Leaving a Legacy

Yesterday our church started a three part series on sacrifice. Part 1: Why Sacrifice, was a gracious gift from God to my heart. Although the message was targeted toward sacrificially giving for the advancement of the gospel through our local church, it made me wonder how am I sacrificially giving to advance the gospel in the lives of my daughter and family, what is the legacy that I am leaving behind for Izzy and her future bothers and sisters? Is the legacy one of comfort and material abundance or is it a legacy aimed at a love for the savior, a love of others before self, a legacy that seeks to invest in eternal treasures and not temporal pleasures?

We all live busy lives, filled with 1 hour commutes, numerous activities and commitments, and careers that demand much of our energy. In the mists of all these things, how does one begin to build a biblical-cross-centered legacy for our children? Izzy is only 7 months old, so there is still some time before she begins to understand some of sacrifices and investments we are making so that she inherits a gospel centered legacy; but, I'm curious to know, what are some of the ways that you are building a gospel centered legacy for your children. Irma and I would love to hear some of your great ideas.
