Yesterday around noon, I started having horrible back pain and a few minutes later they were accompanied by what I thought were bad Braxton Hicks. Around 3 pm I decided to call the doctor since they had not stopped and they seemed to be getting worse. The doctor suggested that I head over to the hospital to get checked out. Well, if this would've not been a problem, BUT Rene was at work in a meeting and I could not get a hold of him, which made me panic! I went down the list of potential family members who I could call and my mother-in-law, Noemy, was next. Now she USUALLY gets out of work at 3 or 3:30 so that would be good! I thought that she would just drop me off at the hospital and then bring Izzy home. Well... that plan had a little kink in it, my mother-in-law had to work late and I could not get a hold of her either! I kept trying to get a hold of Rene, but was unsuccessful and I thought about calling one of my sisters, but they either were at school or work far away to come in what I thought would be time for Rene to get home. To make a long story short, I didn't get a hold of Noemy until around 5ish. She rushed to come get me and took me to the hospital. The funny thing was that by this time, I felt so much better and I thought that pain was getting more manageable. I debated heading to the hospital, but was encouraged by Rene to go get checked out anyways.
I finally got admitted around 6 pm and the nurse informed me that my contractions were 2 minutes apart and that they were going to try to stop them by hydrating me (good thing I went). In my mind, I was thinking, so those were contractions?! I don't really remember them from when I had Izzy! After a bag of IV and 3 shots of Terbutaline (a drug that helps stop contractions) and 3 dosages of the same Terbutaline in pill form, the contractions stops and I was able to come home around 3 am. The bad news came when the doctor came to see me, he "prescribed" bed rest for at least a week until I had my next OB appointment. My first thoughts were, "Izzy's birthday party is this Sunday, how in the world am I going to handle all of that!" Thankfully, Rene suggested that we would postpone the party for another week and see how I'm doing then. For now, Izzy is loving life being with her grandma. Special thanks to Noemy for staying with Izzy and caring for her and for my sister Daisy who has volunteered to come clean my house!!! We'll see what the next week holds for us, but I'm trusting in God that He has ordained these days for me and that He is in control!
Since I will have lots of time now, I'll try to update the blog often!
